Who can join CYTA: 

Currently, those who have a formal Chair Yoga Teacher Training as recognised by certification.

Necessary to organise ourselves before spreading the word of Chair Yoga.

Chair Yoga lacks a trademark and thus is open to many interpretations.  Cost of a formal trademark is $500 in the first year, less thereafter.

CHAIR YOGA CRUISE

I am excited to tell you about my plans for a cruise to Alaska. If you’ve ever thought about going on an Alaskan cruise, this is the time to do it.

Living in the lower mainland means that the ship terminal is downtown – you can get there by public transportation.   You don’t have to fly anywhere – you are already here. People from Europe, Australia, the USA come to Vancouver just to take this cruise.   We are so lucky to have this cruise start, and end, in our ‘back yard’.

I will be teaching Chair Yoga classes on board the ship as it sails between Vancouver and Alaska.

The Volendam offers lots of things to do. My Chair Yoga class is a speciality offering.   I have worked with Eleni of Omega Travel (exclusive agent), and together with Holland America we have scheduled a daily Chair Yoga class in a reserved room on board the ship.

Chair Yoga will be a small group class. Afterwards I am hoping that we – some or all — will meet to take part in more activities on board ship. It is always more fun to be part of a group We can meet for happy hour, or enjoy a meal together at one of the onboard restaurants, or just relax while watching the spectacular scenery: When you hear: “see you at 4 o’clock on the Lido Deck”, you’ll know you’ll be greeted with: “Over here, we’ve saved a seat for you”.

Chair Yoga is my passion; I teach regular classes in Vancouver. Also, I am a Chair Yoga Teacher Trainer at Semperviva Yoga. My thesis for my MBA was on the benefits of yoga, and my professors were impressed with the data and statistics which I had researched. One professor said that she was inspired to take yoga classes.

What to pack for a cruise is an issue – for Chair Yoga you need only comfortable clothes, and they won’t get dirty from rolling around on the floor.   Everyone can get benefit from the stretches and meditative moves of Chair Yoga.   You will learn how to relax and exercise in a chair. The exercises can be done at home, or in an office or while sitting in a doctor’s office waiting for your appointment!

Please join me on board ship for Chair Yoga. There is a charge of $100 for this speciality class. Cruise agents will tell you that the cruises are filling up fast. The June 28 cruise is during those long days of summer where the sun rises early and sets really late, giving you lots of Alaska time.
